Asides from the fact that a litter-free community is simply nicer to look at, a clean environment is vital for the economic development of a region.

Businesses and tourists are more likely to be attracted to a tidy town! No-one wants to live, work or visit an area where chip bags rule the footpath or plastic bags float freely about!

There are a number of initiatives where communities, businesses and schools can become actively involved in making their area a litter free zone!

Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) highlights the importance of maintaining a litter free environment has on economic issues such as tourism & attracting new business. 

National Spring Clean Campaign is run by An Taisce throughout the month of April. Volunteers are supplied with equipment such as gloves, litter pickers, bags etc in order to collect and dispose of litter. Why not volunteer and help to keep your area litter free!
