What is a Litter Management Plan

Under the Litter Pollution Act 1997 Local Authorities are required to produce a Litter Management Plan (LMP) for their area. The aim of this plan is to set out the objectives identified by the Local Authority for the prevention and control of litter.

The plan outlines what measures are going to be put in place within the region to ensure litter is a thing of the past! This may involve the implementation of campaigns aimed at schools, communities and business'.  Each Litter Management Plan must be reviewed every 3 years.
